Learning Croatian , or Hrvatski, is a great way to connect with Croatian culture. The club supports that in a range of ways, and also has many members who are fluent in Croatian.
Ways to Learn
Language Cafe is our main language learning activity, hosted by Maja Krtalić. It runs on the last Saturday of each month from February to November. This is a great opportunity to try learning the Croatian language in a relaxed and informal environment. Full details are in our Events listings. There is no need to sign up, just come along.
The Hrvatski Jezik Croatian Language Scholarship was established in 2025 and provides financial support (fees and hostel accommodation) for a younger club member to participate in a university summer school programme in Croatia.
Our Library is available to members to browse, read and borrow novels, cookbooks, children’s books, CDs and language resources.
Music is a great way to engage with culture and to help learn the language. Our club has long supported From Croatia with Love every Sunday from 12.30pm–1pm at FM106.1 (or access episodes at the Access Radio website). The Croatian Club in Auckland has also developed several Spotify playlists that are a good introduction to Croatian music.
