SGM – Constitution Updates and Nominations for Life Membership

The Executive would like to give Notice and invite all members to attend a Special General Meeting at the Club at 3pm on the 27th July 2024.
This is the same day as the Language Café and we hope that this will make it easier for more people to join us. We aim to make the meeting as straightforward as possible and we are hoping that it will not take more than half an hour, which leaves us time for a cup of tea and a slice of cake before Adult Language lessons with Maja at 4pm.
We are holding a Special General Meeting for two reasons:
- Despite all the amazing hard work put in by the previous Committee to update the Club’s Constitution & Rules to meet the requirements of the new Incorporated Societies Act 2022, the Registrar has notified us that we still have areas of non-compliance with the new Act that we need to address. These are minor wording and format updates, we are not making any substantive changes to the existing constitution/rules.
- In recognition of the amazing dedication, contribution and long service to the Club, the Committee is nominating two members to Life Member status. The nominees are: Milivoj Hrstich and Joan Barbalich. More information on Mili and Joan’s contributions will follow soon.
We hope you will join us at the Special General Meeting so we can update our Constitution and vote on awarding Life Membership to two of our respected elders.
