Language Café with special guest speakers

At the November Language Café, 32 Hania Street Wellington – special guests Ivana Hebrang-Grgić and Ana Barbarić from the University of Zagreb Croatia, will be visiting us and run several activities including a book presentation and an exhibition.

There will be activities for children (3 to 3:45pm) and adults (4 to 5pm) followed by a social hour.

Please join us at the Club to welcome Ivana and Ana, hear about how Croats in New Zealand communicated through the years, and learn more about the old Croatian script called Glagoljica or Glagolitic script

Book Presentation – Ivana and Ana recently published a book in English titled “Their Faraway Home: The Story of Croats in New Zealand Through Publications”. They will talk us through selected interesting stories and Croats in New Zealand, their families, their cultural and other social activities

Exhibition “They Wrote in Glagolitic Script…” Ivana and Ana will present a small exhibition and explain the origins of the Glagolitic Script. The aim of the exhibition is to display and promote Croatian Glagolitic heritage, Croatian language, history and culture through texts written in the Glagolitic Script. The audience will be given QR Codes to access some additional sources, including computer games for learning the Glagolitic Script
